o Calamares não deixa iniciar a instalação se a memória RAM é menor de 1 GB.

Bom, nossos testes foram realizados em uma máquina de 512MB Ram, Celeron.
Rodou tranquilamente, porem... no Virtual Box desabilitamos rodar abaixo de 1GB de ram por questão de usabilidade, não é a mesma coisa você rodar em um computador físico e uma virtual box com menos de 1GB de ram, virtual box sempre vai exigir mais, assim causando uma experiencia não muito legal...
Use acima de 1GB ram que vai dar para instalar corretamente.
